Ramadan Calendar 2024 – Sehri and Iftar Timings in Bangladesh

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is a time when Muslims around the world focus on prayer, fasting, charitable giving and religious devotion. The last third of Ramadan is a particularly holy time, as it commemorates when the first verses of the Qur'an (Qur'an) were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (Mohammed or Muhammad).

Ramadan 2024 will begin on Monday, 11 March 2024, 1445 Hijri in most countries of the world. But Bangladeshi Muslims will start it a day later and from Tuesday 12 March 2024 due to their geographical location. Ramadan may continue till Wednesday, 10 April 2024 and hopefully after 30 days Eid-ul Fitr will be celebrated in Bangladesh on 11 April 2024.

আবূ হুরাইরাহ (রাযি.) হতে বর্ণিত। তিনি বলেন, আল্লাহর রাসূল সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেছেনঃ যে ব্যক্তি ঈমানসহ পুণ্যের আশায় রমাযানের সিয়াম ব্রত পালন করে, তার পূর্বের গুনাহ ক্ষমা করে দেয়া হয়। সহীহ বুখারীঃ৩৮ 

সাহল (রাঃ) হতে বর্ণিত। নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেনঃ জান্নাতে রাইয়্যান নামক একটি দরজা আছে। এ দরজা দিয়ে কিয়ামতের দিন সওম পালনকারীরাই প্রবেশ করবে। তাদের ব্যতীত আর কেউ এ দরজা দিয়ে প্রবেশ করতে পারবে না। ঘোষণা দেয়া হবে, সওম পালনকারীরা কোথায়? তখন তারা দাঁড়াবে। তারা ব্যতীত আর কেউ এ দরজা দিয়ে প্রবেশ করবে না। তাদের প্রবেশের পরই দরজা বন্ধ করে দেয়া হবে। যাতে করে এ দরজাটি দিয়ে আর কেউ প্রবেশ না করে। ( সহীহ বুখারী ১৮৯৬, ৩২৫৭, মুসলিম ১৩/৩, হাঃ ১১৫২) 

However, it is known that both Ramadan and Eid begin with the rising of the new Arabic (Hijri) moon. A Hijri year is a lunar year. So Ramadan and Eid festival must be dependent on moon rise.

Generally Lunar month/year in Bangladesh starts one day later than the worldwide or middle east for its geographical position. So most of the countries of the world celebrate Ramadan, Eid or Hijri a day earlier than us.
